Now That You Have Worked Many Years...
Can You Show Me the Money?

If I asked most people when they retired to show me the money, only a small percentage (3-4%) would be satisfied with their answer.

60% of all families have so little in the way of savings that they can only sustain their lifestyles for about 30 days if they lose their jobs.

Can You Show Me The Money?
Your Reality Check (A Rude Awakening)

Here’s a great reality check to see where you really stand financially…

Warning!...Do this at your own risk… the Truth can be painful!

Note- You can either do this quickly, using approximations, or specifically, using the actual numbers (that way will take more time).

If you don’t want to take a lot of time, do it the quick way rather than not doing this at all.

What is important is that you do this.

Do not ignore this. It can be a turning point in your life...

Step 1: Calculate (or estimate) lifetime earnings.

Go back over your working adult life and total up all the income you have earned.

Either estimate this amount or you can find out specifically (if you live in the U.S.) from the Social Security administration. Click here to request a statement. Popup Blocker Help

You will likely be surprised at how large this number is.

You have had vast sums of money flow through your hands!

Step 2: Total your savings and assets.

Use the market value of you assets, not what you paid for them. If you own a home, then you can only use the amount of the equity that YOU have in your home. The bank’s share (mortgage) is not your asset, it’s your liability or debt.

Step 3: Subtract any unsecured debts (i.e. credit card debt) from your assets.

Sit down, because this next part can be shocking- I don’t want to be responsible for any heart attacks.

Step 4: Divide the number in Step 1 by the number in Step 3.

What percentage of your total earnings do you still have?

Can you show me the money? Or not?

If, after earning all the money you have in your lifetime, you have debt and no savings, what does that say about your handling of money?

This can be embarrassing and sobering.

Commit right here and now to change your habits.

You need to change you attitude about money.
